Brown Dog Tick

The brown dog tick is unique among ticks in that it can complete its entire life cycle indoors, making it one of the few ticks capable of infesting a home the way fleas do. It primarily targets dogs but can bite people as well.

Ticks tend to climb walls and curtains to lay eggs in hard-to-reach cracks and crevices, which is why infestations can be difficult to fully clear without professional treatment.

Signs You May Have Brown Dog Tick

  • Ticks found on pets, especially around the ears and neck
  • Ticks crawling on walls, curtains, or near baseboards
  • Small, dark specks (tick eggs) in cracks or crevices
  • Ticks in outdoor kennels, dog runs, or resting areas

Our Treatment Approach

We treat both indoor harborage areas — cracks, baseboards, and wall voids — and outdoor areas where pets spend time, such as kennels and dog runs, to break the tick life cycle at every stage. As with fleas, we recommend coordinating with your veterinarian for pet-specific treatment.
